Cloud Resource Management for CRM Application on Google Cloud

Project Overview

Support and manage the cloud infrastructure for a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) application hosted on Google Cloud, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security.

Technologies and Services Used

  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Storage, VPC, IAM, Cloud Load Balancing

  • Security: Customer Managed Encryption Keys (CMEK), IAM

  • Backup and DR: Google Cloud Backup, Disaster Recovery Planning

  • Performance Management: Auto-scaling, Load Balancing, Cost Optimization

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Resource Management: - Infrastructure Monitoring and Management: Actively monitored and managed cloud resources on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring that the CRM application ran smoothly with minimal downtime. - Resource Scaling: Configured and adjusted cloud resources such as Compute Engine instances, Cloud SQL databases, and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) clusters to meet the application's performance and scalability requirements. - Storage and Networking: Managed Cloud Storage for data storage needs and configured networking components like Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), subnets, and firewalls to ensure secure and efficient communication between different parts of the application.

  • Configuration and Optimization: - Load Balancing and Auto-scaling: Implemented and managed load balancing and auto-scaling policies to handle varying traffic loads and ensure high availability of the CRM application. - Cost Optimization: Regularly reviewed resource usage and implemented cost-saving measures by rightsizing instances, optimizing storage, and eliminating unnecessary resources.

  • Security and Compliance: - Identity and Access Management (IAM): Configured IAM policies to control access to cloud resources, ensuring that only authorized users and services could access sensitive data and operations. - Data Security: Implemented encryption at rest and in transit for sensitive data, using Google Cloud’s built-in security features such as Customer Managed Encryption Keys (CMEK). - Compliance: Ensured that the cloud infrastructure complied with industry standards and regulations relevant to the CRM application, including data protection and privacy laws.

  • Backup: - Backup Management: Managed regular backups of critical data using Google Cloud’s backup services, ensuring data integrity and availability in case of failures.

  • Collaboration and Support: - Cross-Team Collaboration: Worked closely with development teams to deploy new features and updates, ensuring that cloud resources were configured to support new requirements. - Issue Resolution: Provided ongoing support for cloud-related issues, troubleshooting and resolving any problems that affected the performance or availability of the CRM application.

Project Outcomes

Successfully managed and optimized the cloud infrastructure for a CRM application on Google Cloud, ensuring that the platform operated efficiently and securely. My contributions helped maintain high availability, performance, and compliance with industry standards, supporting the overall success of the application.
